Vehicle Overview

The following is a very nice example of a clean 912 that makes an excellent daily driver, or occasional weekend cruiser. I have the webers dialed in to where the car starts very easy, and idles at 700 RPM smoothly. It has crisp clean power all the way through the band up to 6K RPM. Some people think 912's aren't that fast, but that is just not the case. When the carbs are tuned properly these cars go...
 
The handling is simply amazing, especially considering this is almost a 40 yr old car. Zero body roll through the corners, just point the wheel and it goes as if it's on rails. The ride is also very smooth. It just hums along at 70mph on the freeway, I'm always amazed that I'm in a 1969, just doesn't feel like because it rides so well.
 
About the car:
 
4000 miles on fresh top end rebuild including new pistons and rings. I have driven the engine very carefully during the break-in period to ensure long engine life.
 
Dual Weber IDF 40 Carbs with correct jetting and the larger 32mm venturis, complete with F7 emulsion tubes, and 55 idle jets. This combo allows the car to idle very well at 700 RPM with no flat spots throughout the power band.
 
Suspension has been lowered to Euro specs, which looks perfect. The 15x7 replica Fuchs tuck nicely really make this 912 stand out. They have a nice dish to them because of the off set, and they fit well with no rubbing. Tires are 80% tread, 205/55/15 Also has custom strut car and sway bar.
 
New battery, and new cable leads
 
Brake Calipers rebuilt front and rear with SS braided brake lines
 
Rebuilt pedal cluster with new bushings
 
Rebuilt Shifter Linkage (4spd) - An upgrade I'd strongly suggest for anyone with stock linkage. This is the gated short shifter. Makes every throw positive, and ensures you never miss a shift. The car truly does NOT shift like a 50 yr old car. It shifts very, very well. No grinding at all into any of the gears. The 4th gear ratio is exactly the same as the 5th gear ratio in 5 speeds so in my opinion there is no reason to have a 5 spd. Your final RPM at freeway speed is exactly the same in a 5psd vs a 4spd. The 4 is just more fun to drive around town and has a better pattern.

Black bucket seats with custom rails, and one of my favorite upgrades - 3 Point retractable seat belts!! Sounds simple, but man what a difference over 50 yr old lap belts. Nice clean install looks good too.
 
Back seats look perfect, as most do because they have probably never been sat in.
 
Headliner has been replaced with new black one, and sun visors have been upgraded to black also to match. The interior on this car is really nice. The dash has a small crack by the speaker grill. I was going to upgrade to a nice dash cap but never got to it. You can get really nice injection molded plastic dash caps for 912's for $90 brand new on ebay.
 
New ignition coil, and upgraded Distributor to the 012
 
ALL new carpet - (see pics) All previous carpet was torn out, pans sanded and POR-15 applied. Pans are solid. When I had the upholstery shop do the carpet I had them install a thick sound pad under the carpet which works well.
 
New carpet was put in the truck area as well for a nice clean look. Carpet was custom sewn with access panels for brake fluid reservoir.
 
ALL gauges are functional, except the clock (only works sometimes) All lights, turn signals, radio, wipers, etc work great. Recently replaced the aluminum on the dash with fresh metal and replaced the old stereo with a current CD/MP3 player and two new door speakers.
 
Door panels are in good shape, also added POWER LOCKS. This is an upgrade no one would ever know you had. I did not have to cut anything to install these. All of install is hidden.
